David letterman is a jerk

let cbs know

by: sheri

Letterman made a joke last night about Sarah Palin's daughter, it was very crude. Lets call them up and complain, if we let every filthy joke like this go by then it provides a bad light to all the young girls who choose to raise their babies instead of aborting them. Make no mistake, had she aborted there would have been nothing but praise for her from the liberals, we need to let CBS know this is way over the line.
The complaint line is (212) 975-4321

reply from: Banned Member

CBS already knows that Letterman is a jerk. That's why he still has a job.

reply from: sheri

Jock, I am very angry about this joke, no pretending, but if you want to hear it youll have to find it yourself. Suffice to say it was a filthy joke about a young mother and any one who feels compelled to complain should call this number 212 975 4321.

reply from: 4choice4all

The one about her getting knocked up by A-rod? pbbtttt.....
Hey, if you are an unmarried teen knocked up by the local bo-hunk and turn abstinence doesn't work but abstinence is where it's at spokesperson....you are a legal adult holding yourself out there as a spokesperson for premarital sex.....learn to take a hit or fade into gray. No one would still be talking about her if she wasn't ON THE COVERS OF MAGAZINES and becoming a spokesperson for abstinence.

reply from: sheri

I'm kind of surprised he would joke about Spitzer, i kind of thought they were rehabing him for a run at gov. of Ny again.
It is important to defend this girl because we dont want other young girls to be stygmatized by a pregnancy.

reply from: 4choice4all

So the only type of pregnancy that should result in being stigmatized is the one that ends in abortion? I disagree with that. Teen pregnancy should be frowned on no matter the outcome.
That being said....there was a way to protect Bristol...not have her mom run knowing her family would be put under a microscope...especially considering her teen was pregnant. That would've saved Bristol the spotlight initially...but momma was too hungry, kids be damned. Then another way would've been to not do interviews and use your kid as a poster child for "choosing life"...but c'mon, what good is an illegitimate grandkid if it can't boost your base?? And yet another way would be to not become a spokesperson for abstinence....especially in light of the fact that you OBVIOUSLY don't practice it,lol. But Bristol must be as attention starved as her momma...which would explain the kid on her hip.

reply from: 4choice4all

Oh..and I must've missed the joke because I thought it was that A rod knocked her up.

reply from: sheri

You would have to have a pretty perverted mind to think that joke was funny. It was crude and mean.

reply from: CDC700

Unfortunately I have to agree on this one. Palin threw her family out to the sharks when she ran. Which she shouldn't have. McCain could have found a better running partner than her. She was good for AK, and that's about it. Remember, 35% of Conservatives want Sarah to run again, and 100% of Liberals do!

reply from: yoda

Gotta disagree with you on all counts. She answered a call from a legitimate candidate for president, she did not invite others to make lewd comments about her family. That kind of nasty personal attack on someone's family ought to be condemned by all decent people, not excused.
And no, he could not have found a better running mate. Without her, he'd have lost in a landslide. She was the only bright spot in the whole election, IMO.
She was good for Alaska because she was honest, courageous, and energetic. Where else are you going to find that in a politician on a national level? What other politician has taken on the big oil companies and won for the good of the people? What other national politician will say that they think that protecting the unborn is the duty of the government?
Sarah is the only reason I have any interest in politics at all. Unlike the rest of them, she will not read the polls and lean towards whatever the majority thinks at the moment. She is a very, very rare politician.... one with integrity. If that means nothing to you, fine.

reply from: Banned Member

99% of conservatives in Washington, are not conservative.
John McCain for instance, is not conservative.

reply from: CDC700

She was everything you said and more. She's brilliant, strong, beautiful, conservative, PRO LIFE and a good wife who stands up strong and takes/feeds no BS. And that's why she wasn't electable. She didn't pick up the female voters that Hillary did and I would attribute that mainly to cat like jealousy and the fact that Palin didn't follow the trail of deceit and deception her opponent chose to go down. As for the family jokes, anyone that holds the public eye is fair game. I don't like it, but she knew it was coming before she ever decided to run.

reply from: Banned Member

CBS is not even worth validating with a complaint. No one watches CBS. Not many watch Letterman. Letterman is a liberal and liberal trash talk is what people expect from him. Letterman is also ignorant and poorly informed. He gives CBS viewers what he thinks they expect, or what the network expects from him. How long do you think Letterman would be hanging around if he started defending Sarah Palin's honor? or ANY conservative?
CBS... remember? Katie Couric's award winning interview with Sarah Plain?
Can't Be Serious

reply from: sheri

I agree with you, Yoda, 100%. It is our duty to address this wrong, that is why Im doing it, not because i think it will do much good, but because we are duty bound to correct the ignorant.

reply from: Banned Member

I don't like Letterman. He's not funny, that's the only reason I don't like him. IMO, they give late night talk shows to unfunny comedians, which is why I don't watch them.
Nothing wrong with CBS though. Survivor, CSI, Harper's Island...all great shows.
I hope the GOP is stupid enough to give her the nomination in 2012. That will just insure Obama gets a second term. I'm sure he will anyway, but nothing wrong with a guarantee. People didn't like her because she was stupid, a regular airhead. Not what you want in a world leader. And don't kid yourself, she was just as corrupt as any other politician, she was just corrupt on smaller, more redneck scale.

reply from: sheri

Siren, If everything you said about Palin were true, (and you cant really believe she is as stupid as SNL would have you believe.) would making a vicious joke like that about the daughter then be exceptable in your eyes?
If we allow these evil outbursts about the family of polititions then very soon their will be no good family people involved in politics (there arent many now). would you grant that the families should not be freely attacted? Then would you call CBS and let your displeasure be known?

reply from: Banned Member

No, I don't think that her family should be attacked. However, anyone in the public eye is fodder for media folly, it seems in this country. There were plenty of jokes about Brittany Spears little sister (I can't remember her name) getting pregnant young, but I didn't see anyone on here calling for her protection.
In any case, while I don't think the joking is appropriate, I wouldn't call in a complaint, if for no other reason than I didn't see it myself. Like I said, I don't like Letterman, so I didn't see the joke.

reply from: sander

I'd like to see that stupid puny man say those things about Gov. Palin and her daughter with Todd in the same room.
Letterman is a jerk and a coward.

Bristol is an adult and opens herself up to criticism when she puts herself in the public eye...same as Mccain's daughter Megan...or any other adult child of a politician that campaigns and does interviews.

reply from: sander

You're as dense as your other baby killing friends here.
No woman should be the brunt of sexist humor....oh wait, you're a hypocrite, so you wouldn't see the difference.

reply from: Skippy

I'm a bit confused. Since it was Willow, not Bristol, that was in New York with her mom, how would Sarah Palin choosing not to run for vice-president save her daughter from David Letterman's joke?
Since it is all right to make sexual jokes at the expense of a fourteen year old, I gleefully anticipate all the cracking wise that Barry's kids will have to look forward to in the next few years when they reach the double digits age-wise.

reply from: 4choice4all

Well...a 14 yo...absolutely not. I assumed it was Bristol since she was the previously knocked up on. But Willow...not cool. I think minor kids are off limits...and jokes about 14yo's having sex with grown men is rather crude.

reply from: sander

Governor and Todd Palin had great responses, glad to see them taking a stand and speaking out:
"Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."
- Todd Palin
"Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands - that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone's daughter, contribute to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'"
- Governor Sarah Palin
I still say that puny man wouldn't have the courage to make jokes about this family in front of Todd Palin.

reply from: Yuuki

So... what was the joke?

reply from: Banned Member

Something stupid about A-Rod knocking her up. I thought he was talking about Bristol, too, but apparently he was talking about her younger child. He's not funny, no matter what, but that is pretty pathetic, to talk about a 14 year old in such a context.
Holy Crap! I just realized Sarah Palin said the first thing I've ever agreed with!

reply from: sheri

Dont you believe in equal rights for women? what about the unborn women?

reply from: Shenanigans

The irony is, had she had an abortion NO ONE would know a lick about it, bar those without in her family circle.

reply from: 4choice4all

Good...her private business could've remained private.
Yeah...about the 14 yo...WAY out of line.

reply from: Shenanigans

Which would have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more hypocritical and damaging to her mother's campaign then a teen apparently abstienent getting prego.

reply from: 4choice4all

I'm not concerned about her parent's political career.

reply from: CDC700

No, your concern is that you didn't have the chance to walk her daughter through the abortion mill.

reply from: RushLimbaugh

You cannot protest jokes but support freedom of speech. NOW HOLD ON THERE! I know you're already arguing with me. But our first amendment gives us the RIGHT to say what we want without fear of persecution. I have the right to say whatever I choose, and sure, I offend plenty of people, but our Constitution does not grant you "the right to not be offended". When did people start thinking they deserve to go through life without being offended by anything? The only true solution is to not watch David Letterman, but only if that is the course that YOU choose to take. However, you can not censor him, nor impose your will to make others stop watching. That way leads to tyranny. Now Sheri, I am truly sorry that the joke offended you. I won't declare my opinions on whether it was tasteful or not, because when it comes to what someone says freely, in our free country, even my opinion doesn't matter. I will defend his RIGHT to say it, whether I agree with it or not. Then I will debate his views and criticize his statements, expecting that others will defend my own right to do so. Not much else is worth Americans fighting for than our freedom and rights.

reply from: iCelebr8Life

Letterman has always been mean-spirited and the few times I have watched him over the years I marveled at how anyone could enjoy him. I used to love Johnny Carson. He really made me laugh and his salty humor is quite tame by today's standards.
Bristol's "do as I say not like I did, but if you end up like I did, then do as I did" may be received by the evangelical crowd, but I don't think it's going to inspire the heathens.
While I am against abortive birth control that prevents implantation after fertilization such as the pill, IUD etc., and I am personally for abstinence as birth control, I am very much in favor of elective sterilization, condoms, diaphragm and spermicide for promiscuous women that insist on having sex and don't want children.
I would rather have a naturally beautiful virtuous virgin woman in her late twenties, dressing modestly without breast implants lecturing our youth about abstinence. A true woman of valor is not merely a woman that didn't abort, but one who remains chaste until she is joined to her husband.

reply from: MC3

It seems that Letterman is a typical leftist coward. If what this scumbag said was, instead, said by a conservative 60-something male about Comrad Obama's daughters, the NOW COWS and the rest of the godless-Left would be going ballistic and this guy would be looking for a job.
Now, I've got a suggestion for how Letterman can prove to the world that he's not the sniveling coward I say he is. Let him come to Denton, Texas, and we'll escort him to the town square. Once there, we'll start asking each man who walks by if he has a 14-year-old daughter. When the first one says yes, we'll let Letterman tell him some hilarious antidote about her being raped by a professional athlete.
Now THAT would be funny!

reply from: sheri

RL, Im not advocating censorship of the Letterman show, I am saying if you were as offended as i was then call and let CBS know. I will no longer be watching anything that disgusting station has to offer.

reply from: sander

I'd pay to watch that.
I'd just like letterman to say those things while Todd Palin is standing next to him....I'd pay to watch that too.

reply from: sander

Nobody but you is talking about censorship.
The free market, in normal circumstances, would take care of this buffoon.
But, since the double standard of the left being able to say what it wants with no impunity and the right getting hammered, is something to take offense to.

reply from: sheri

Our hypocrisy aside, arent you disgusted with the joke? I think he should take it back,if he did mean Bristil that makes a poor reflection on all teens who choose to mother the child instead of abort it.
Call them and let them know you think the joke was in poor taste, 212 975 4321.

reply from: yoda

Sheri, you can't be disgusted when you worship the ground that guys like Letterman walk on. Or the ground that Obama floats above.

reply from: iCelebr8Life

I did hear about the joke on the radio news. Evidently Letterman got the names mixed up and he meant it to be about Bristol. Letterman is still a mean creep, he's additionally a mixed up mean creep.

reply from: yoda

And that would have been "better"?
Nah, he knew that Bristol was hundreds of miles away, and the 14 year old was the one who went to the baseball game with Sarah. He isn't a fool, he knew exactly what he was saying.
And the really disgusting thing is that it was totally uncalled for, totally out of the blue. Makes me wonder who is writing his stuff..... NoBama?
As for Letterman being a "jerk"....... that's being unkind to jerks.

reply from: RushLimbaugh

Good for you, Sheri. If you were offended, show it by lowering his ratings. When it comes to broadcasting, the ratings are your vote. If you don't like David, don't watch him. If enough people feel the same way as you, he will be canceled, (voted out of his CBS office). But remember, if the majority of Americans don't feel the same way, then the conservative vote will be overridden once again. Personally, I don't like the joke, and I don't believe his later statement that he was talking about Sarah's OTHER daughter (who was not at the stadium where the joke was set), but I don't think it "crossed the line". The reason for that is I don't think there should be a line to cross before it's no longer protected speech, especially in comedy. Comedy is often funny when it's considered "edgy". I defend foolish David Letterman's right to make his stupid joke in bad taste, but I strongly hope his new jokes won't include statutory rape.

reply from: yoda

Free speech has never been "free" in this country, there have always been exceptions. And what he said isn't anywhere near actionable on a criminal basis, but it sure as hell ought to be on a civil basis. I'd love to see the Palins sue the pants off him, get him kicked off the air, and wind up selling pencils in Time's Square.

reply from: RushLimbaugh

It's true that the cost of our freedom was high, but it has been paid. Our founding fathers bought our freedom long ago. We no longer have the cost of freedom, which we SHOULD have to pay, just so we would more fully appreciate it. Do not mistake that for the cost of our safety, which our military pays for repeatedly. The only way to maintain our freedom is to keep resisting government intrusion and violation of it. But we are not "fighting" the government in any violent manner, nor making any sacrifices to keep them at bay. As for suing David because of a joke, I don't believe there was any slander, only insult. Insults are protected by free speech, but thankfully, getting your feelings hurt is still your own problem (the Palins' problem, actually) to deal with.

reply from: sheri

Im all on board with this. Still angry about it.

Letterman should be fired for what he said, regardless of who he said it about. Letterman is an ignorant angry old man.

Top 10 Reasons Sarah Palin's Outrage is A Little Late...
By Shannyn Moore
10) Last September, a skit on Saturday Night Live suggested incest in the Palin family. "What about the husband?" asked a mock Times reporter. "You know he's doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It's Alaska!" No outrage. Sarah Palin appeared on the show one month later in late October.
Sarah Palin
(9) Days after the announcement of Bristol's pregnancy, Conan O'Brien joked, "It's true, John McCain's running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has revealed that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. Palin said, 'We should never have introduced her to John Edwards.'" Where was the outrage? Was Conan promoting infidelity with an underage girl?
8 ) "Governor Palin announced over the weekend that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant. Oh, boy, you thought John Edwards was in trouble before, now he's really done it!" -Jay Leno
7) "All the Republicans are heaping praise on Governor Palin. Fred Thompson said, as an actor, he could see them making a movie about Sarah Palin and her family. Didn't they already make that movie? I think it was called 'Knocked Up!'"-Jay Leno
6) Craig Ferguson's skit of "Larry King vs Levi Johnston" asks about "kinky sex" with the drapes open. Craig Ferguson's honorary Alaska citizenship, granted by Governor Palin wasn't rescinded.
5) "According to expense reports, Sarah Palin charged the state of Alaska over $21,000 for her children to travel with her on official business. In fairness to Gov. Palin, when she leaves them home alone they get pregnant." - Seth Meyers (SNL) Sarah Palin was in a sketch with Seth a week earlier.
4) On October 8, 2008, Sarah Palin walked out on the ice with 6 year old Piper and 13 year old Willow, Conan O'Brien said, "Saturday night, Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers' hockey game. Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter's penalty box." Oh, yes he did. You get the outrage...but not a peep then. According to the new "logic", O'Brien was advocating for some sick stuff.
3) Rush Limbaugh, "Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?" And he puts up a picture of Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea Clinton is 13 years old. Rush also says, "In last year's campaign, the most prominent, articulate voice for standard run-of-the-mill good old-fashioned American conservatism was Sarah Palin." Calling a young woman a "dog" can't be helpful to her "self esteem."
2) "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno." John McCain, Palin's running mate. Should McCain apologize to every young woman in America?
1) Palin's friend, political defender and informer of the David Letterman comments, John Ziegler was fired from his radio show for using the "n word" on line and on air in 1997. In 2000, he was fired for spelling the n-word on the air. How much does that word affect the psychological health of the youth of America, regardless of their race? Now he is pimping his film about how mean the "liberal media" was to Palin.

I just watched his "apology" clip. Like a majority of others, I voted that he did not seem sincere, and that he deserved all the negative attention he is getting. He went on and on about "the perception" of what he said, as if he hadn't actually said the words....... very, very insincere.

reply from: sander

He just keeps digging the whole deeper. Arrogance will do that to a person....it'll be nice to see his sorry butt fired.
You think Don Imus would have gotten away with using the word "perception? Hardly.

reply from: Faramir

I saw some of the apology today and it seemed sincere, and Sarah Palin accepted it, so if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me.
And why should I care about whether he gets fired? I already fired him a long time ago by not watching him.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/06/16/letterman-protest-draws-more-media-than-activists/
NEW YORK (CNN) - A protest rally against David Letterman over a failed joke about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her daughter attracted more members of the media than protesters Tuesday afternoon.
A crowd of 15 protesters upset with the late night comic held signs and occasionally shouted as they stood across the street from Letterman's studio.
But they were often hidden from view by the more than 35 members of the media there to cover the protest, and out-shouted by a few very vocal counter-protesters.
Radio talk show host John Ziegler - who is behind the FireDavidLetterman.com Web site that organized the protest, and who is an outspoken supporter of the former Republican vice presidential candidate - told reporters that the turnout at the event was not representative of the number of people who have responded to his site and e-mailed.
He also argued that Letterman should have been fired, and the only reasons that he hasn't been fired were "the media's love of David Letterman and the media's distrust and, I believe, hatred of Sarah Palin."
He also called Letterman's apology - issued on Monday's program and accepted by Palin - bogus and said that the comedian should make a charitable donation to an organization of Palin's choosing.
Ziegler made a film about the 2008 presidential campaign called "Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted."

You didn't but keep lying to yourself, that's all you can do anyway. Well, that and insult people, of course.

The word doesn't mean what you think it means.
You feel better, moron.
If that's supposed to be a question, it's missing something. If not, it doesn't really make sense.
And I suppose that the important thing here is to ask if YOU feel better posting insults instead of having a conversation. But you are 'pro-life' so I suppose this is something that comes naturally for you.
I don't have conversations with hitler wannabes.
You seem to have forgotten to take your meds today, lunatic.

What a dumbass!
Thanks ever so much for proving my point! LOL!!

reply from: Rosalie

I wonder if you people eventually explode with shame once you've finally realized how stupid, pathetic, hateful, immature and ignorant you come across.
Nothing's better around here than 'pro-lifers' showing their true colors.

Glad you finally saw the light.....

It doesn't take much inspiration to deal with little scancs like you. It is WWWWWAAAAYYYYY to easy.

reply from: faithman

Why should I? Like I said WWWAAAYYY easy. You are a low life scum bag death scanc, and prove it with every post. Blather on little puke.

reply from: Rosalie

What did you say? I don't speak trash.

reply from: faithman

You just puke it out like all low life death scum.

reply from: kd78

wow! letterman says one distasteful joke in his entire career and he should get fired? shock jocks do it all the time!

reply from: yoda

You mean like Don Imus?

reply from: kd78

stern, opie and anthony, etc. i don't care for any of them in general.

reply from: yoda

And yet, Don Imus was fired for his "insensitive" remark...... but Dave hangs on to his job.

reply from: Darkmoon

I don't even find myself smirking at anything David Letterman says. He's entirely un-funny. I miss Johnny Carson.

reply from: Faramir

Wow, you must be old.
